Committee and Event Volunteer Opportunities

The following events are lead and managed by the parent teacher organization, with the help of RES volunteers:

  • Shamrock Social – This social event is the start of the new school year and a great way for families to connect and get useful information about our school and all of the events happening in the upcoming school year.
  • Trunk or Treat – A fun Halloween event for children in grades K-5. It takes place in the bus loop, allowing families to get creative and for kids to have a great time!
  • Veteran’s Appreciation Day – An opportunity in the morning for students and families to remember and recognize the veterans that have helped keep our country safe. This event is for all RES families.
  • Turkey BINGO – An annual RES tradition that takes place before Thanksgiving break. It’s held during the school day, and volunteers are needed to pop popcorn the day before, as well as handout treats to winners.
  • Holiday Care Drive – A new annual tradition to support local families that may be experiencing hardship. A reminder for all of us that giving can be even more rewarding than receiving.
  • STEM Night – An evening of science, technology, engineering, art and mechanics. This event has been our biggest hit year over year. The kids really engage and we love it!
  • Art Adventure – Another favorite program that engages students with artwork from the Minneapolis Institute of Art’s collection. Volunteers attend training and then present artwork to students in the classroom over a 6 week period. No art or history experience is necessary to get involved in this amazing program!
  • Scholastic Book Fairs – Offered several times throughout the year, book fairs are a great way to earn free books for our school. Volunteers are needed for setup, check-out and tear-down.
  • Hospitality Committee – This great group helps plan teacher appreciation week, community night out events, conference dinners for our teachers, and more… a quick and easy way to support the school.
  • Gardening Club – Help keep RES landscaping and the outdoor classroom looking beautiful. No experience necessary.
  • Box Tops for Education – Be an advocate and organizer for other income-earning programs. Primarily box tops, but also AmazonSmile and others.
  • Pahl’s Plant Sale – Each spring we offer plants for sale to our families that are organized and delivered to the school for pickup.
