Committee and Event Volunteer Opportunities

The following events are lead and managed by the parent teacher organization, with the help of RES volunteers:

  • Reading Rocks – This literacy fundraising challenge is at the start of the new school year and a great way for families to jump into reading after summer break. This is our organization’s primary fundraiser for the year.

  • Trunk or Treat – A fun Halloween event for children in grades K-5. It takes place in the bus loop, allowing families to get creative and for kids to have a great time!

  • Veterans Day Appreciation – An opportunity in the morning for students and families to remember and recognize the veterans that have helped keep our country safe. This event is for all RES families.

  • Popcorn Bingo – An annual RES tradition that takes place before the Thanksgiving break. It’s held during the school day, and volunteers are needed to pop popcorn the day before, as well as handout treats to winners.

  • Holiday Care Drive – An annual tradition to support local families that may be experiencing hardship. A reminder for all of us that giving can be even more rewarding than receiving.

  • STEM Night – An evening of science, technology, engineering, art and mechanics. This event has been our biggest hit year over year. The kids really engage and we love it!

  • Scholastic Book Fairs – Offered a few times throughout the year, book fairs are a great way to earn free books for our school. Volunteers are needed for setup, check-out and tear-down.

  • Staff Appreciation – This team helps plan teacher appreciation week and admin appreciation day… a quick and easy way to support the school.

  • Conference Dinners – Coordinate providing meals for teachers during conferences and a teacher lunch during assessments… another simple way to support the school.

  • Yearbook – Take photos throughout the year, coordinate with the yearbook vendor, format and style the yearbook. Photography and/or graphic design experience preferred.

  • 5th Grade Send Off – Sending our graduating elementary students off to middle school in style. This event is held outdoors and includes music and a swag item. Reserved for parents of 5th grade graduating students.

  • Pahl’s Spring Plant and Fall Mum Sales – Each spring and fall we offer plants for sale to our families that are organized and delivered to the school for pickup.

  • Kindergarten Orientation – Each fall we host the families of kindergarten students to introduce them to our school and learn more about PTO.

  • School Supply Kits – Each fall we offer the purchase of pre-assembled school supply kits. Coordination with the vendor and organization of delivery is completed by volunteers.

  • Shamrock Social – A community event for families held in the spring, an opportunity for socializing and connecting before the end of the school year, organized by the PTO board.

  • Volunteer Appreciation – A spring event organized by the PTO board, including snacks, beverages and a small gift showing gratitude for people who have volunteered during the school year.
